BetaTraXx

Went absolutely bonkers last weekend with the more than legendary Lords of Afends Clothing.  Amidst doing so, we stumbled upon a GDD sponsored event featuring my mates over at American Royalty topped off with BetaTraXx to end the night.  Having seen American Royalty before, I knew the magical powers they contain when throwing out their live set, truly a site to see, new post solely dedicated to them soon.  Not only did they kill it but I was taken aback by BetaTraXx.

There's something about your standard DJ set compared to a fuckin rockin DJ accompanied by an equally as talented drummer.  It just hits you hard!  The moment I walked upstairs and heard BetaTraXx spinning his firing shit accompanied by a hammering drummer, I immediately hit the dance floor and my foot went stompin uncontrollably!  Managed by the lads over at Gotta Dance Dirty and already having a strong and steady following, BetaTraXx will be fuckin huge!  If you're a lucky asshole and are in the NYC area, be sure to check out hist set at the CMJ  Hype Machine Showcase in the basement at the Backstage Bar tonight at 2...

T & A

When it comes to music blogging, things aren't as easy as they seem.  Not only do you have to be motivated to post at least 3 times a week, be motivated to spend countless hours digging through piles of shit to find gold, but you also have to be innovative and creative in finding bangers that (hopefully) no one has heard before!  Nacht two menshun, you kneed to no how too spa-ell and wright goot!

All of these characteristics, and then some, can no doubt be found over at my homey Brendon's blog entitled Thorns & Arrows.  Always ontop of the new shit whether it be electro, indie, nudsico, dubstep, and the likes, T & A never ceases to amaze me with its alluring powers of sucking you in with phenomenal tunes!  Take a gander on over to T & A but don't call me when you get stuck over there drowning in insta-classics, bangers, rompers, stompers, and just all around great music!

Some select poachers straight form T & A:

Mayer Hawthorne- Strings (prod by Classixx)

The Ting Tings- Hands (Retr/ Grade Renix)

Disco Bisque

As Electronic music within LA and the US in general continues to grow, brand new genres and sub genres within the Electro Realm seem to pop out every other day.  Say what you want about Nu Disco, but it's on the rise and it sure ain't going no where anytime soon!  As long as chicks like miss fire crotch above shake their booty to that funky music and the top dawgs within said genre keep pumping out bangers, I'm just gonna keep getting deeper and deeper into the funk!

Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand

It was weird when I finally heard the original mix of Duck Sauce's "Barbra Streisand" after the remix by O God swept the nation this summer.  There's a teaser video affiliated with the movie Electro Wars  in which A-Trak gets interviewed as he talks about said weirdness and how he's "never heard of a song getting remixed before its release".  There's quite a few electro songs out there these days that are taken to the next level when a professional remixes them and adds their own spice but it's the true legends who make an original track that, no matter who touches it, the original will forever be better than the remix.  Surely, "Barbra Streisand" by Duck Sauce is one of those tracks...

Frothy Friday #1

Being recently inspired by surrounding blogs around me, I've decided to start a weekly music tradition (when I'm not pumpin out frothcasts).  I'm taking it upon myself to pump out a music feature each Friday featuring all the current tracks in my library that are stuck on repeat.  It's gonna be called Frothy Friday (of course) and it's gonna be a mix of shit sure to get you frothing, fist pumping, wang banging, beer steering, and boob lubing!  With each storm comes a calm and rightfully so, there will also be a few cool-down songs in there if you get to shneeked and can't feel your face; something to bring your feet back to solid ground.  Here's the first set, enjoy!

Big thanks to the Dirt, The Ear, and a few others for inspiring me!

Waves ≠ Raves Vol.1

My homies over at The AMPAL Creative have teamed up with the legendary music blog Gotta Dance Dirty and are starting a new bimonthly music feature.  From the look of the graphic and the title alone, I'm already frothing at the bit!  If that wasn't enough, the list of tracks they've supplied AMPAL with for the first installment are pure golden insta-classics!

In the words of Gotta Dance Dirty:
"The Wave consists of hand-picked jems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices.  Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now.  They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave.  They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.  They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet.  Stay Dreamy".

Without further adieu, I present you the first installment of The AMPAL Creative & Gotta Dance Dirty's: Waves ≠ Raves:
 Aeroplane - Superstar
Miami Horror - I look to You (ft. Kimbra)
 Royksopp - This Space
Human Life - In it Together (Kris Menace Remix)
Groove Armada - I Won't Kneel (Beaumont Remix)

The Ting Tings- Hands

Just having rolled off a 10 day work bender and hopping straight into a new one yesterday, a break or a nap are starting to look a bit appetizing.  Today, as I frothed my way back from work and tuned the radio dial like I was playing with a pair of nips, it was almost as if a mole told the music world of my tribulations.  Back and forth with the radio tuner I went, clockwise and counter clockwise, until suddenly... a vicious beat hit my ears and a ghost grabbed my hand, clenched it, and I found myself furiously fist pumping to The Ting Ting's dope new track entitled "Hands".  "Clap Your Hands If Your Working Too Hard" spat out of my speakers and into my heart like a knife being shot out of a gun!  The lyrics hit me hard, the beat wouldn't quit, and her voice gave me a boner!  I dunno, may be it's just me, but give a listen to the og track + remixes and hit me up if you have the same symptoms...

Kings of Leon- Radioactive

My contentment for Kings of Leon wanes like a toddler holding a fruit snack above a dog's nose!  I liked them a shitload and then the devil aka all the radio stations in the California area over played "Use Somebody" to the point where it became unbearable to hear.  Fortunately, they've come out with a new track entitled "Radioactive" that's pretty sick and the video is even sicker.  See for yourself:

The NOISEttes

I've been recently scouring the net for good soul music to add to my new DJ set for Magnolia's new Sunday event called Soulful Sundays.  Amidst doing so, I came across The NOISEttes and completely fell in love with their sound and their style (not to mention their lead singer).  They've got a pretty eclectic mix of tracks, but here's a few that caught my ear...

The NOISEttes- Never Forget You

The NOISEttes- Don't Upset The Rhythm

The NOISEttes- When You Were Young (Killers Cover)

Arcade Fire- The Suburbs

On my way back from SD to LA tonight, I chugged along in my truck and punched my radio once again due to recent frustration I've been having with my CD player.  Instead of listening to the same CD for the 200th time, I crossed my fingers and hoped that KCRW had a good DJ on and was spinning good tunes.  Luckily, Poseidon heard my prayers and I was greeted with some sick new indie/electro songs that immediately perked me up.

Frothing at the mouth, I called up the station and yelled out a few requests.  The DJ was roots enough to grant me one of 'em and even gave me a shout out as he later said "earlier in the set, that was one of Arcade Fire's latest tracks entitled 'We Used To Wait' requested by Hendonesia? Hope I got your name right".  Here's a few of my favorite from Arcade Fire's latest album entitled The Suburbs.  I STRONGLY suggest you BUY it here!

Arcade Fire- We Used To Wait

Arcade Fire- Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

Arcade Fire- The Suburbs

Arcade Fire- Ready To Start

ps: you got my name right, but next time try not to forget the Surf Ambassador prefix...

MSTRKRFT - Heartbreaker

I figured I'd start things off with one of my favorite music videos of all time in addition to a few remixes of this heart-felt track.  Yeah, it's MSTRKRFT's "Heartbreaker".  Something about the video just reminds me about my life here in downtown LA, chasing adventure, chasing myrts, and chasing dreams!
